Drama at Waimea Heights Primary is taught from Prep to Year 6. It is thought provoking and stimulating. It is based on the National Drama Curriculum and the approach centres around three areas-Creating, Presenting and Responding. Students are challenged intellectually by putting themselves in another’s place and “living” relevant events in a safe environment of pretend. They are supported to collaborate, communicate, think deeply about topics and express their point of view. In Drama sessions, the students might become a character, move in new ways to express concepts and improvise solutions to challenges. These activities are all examples of how we make connections across different core curriculums and cultural content. Drama is an excellent way to reinforce 21st Century skills and have a lot of fun!
